Central Medical Record Department & Training Centre, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is a Medical Institute of Ranchi University at Ranchi. The college is an autonomous body established under an act of Jharkhand Assembly and is one of the premier medical colleges in the state and India.

The institute was established in 1960 and was originally called Rajendra Medical College Hospital after Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The Medical College Hospital came into existence in February 1965. The Institute provides free medical service to the patients along with essential drugs.

The college is 2226 bedded Multi-Speciality Hospital with Advanced Diagnostic Tools. There is Oncology centre with the latest Radiation Machinery, a 50 seated Dental College. The college also has a 50 bedded advanced Trauma centre and 50 bedded Central Emergency.

1. Medical Record Department:

Central Medical Records Department & Training Centre (CMRD&TC) has been engaged regularly in preparation of the hospital statistics related to IPD, OPD, Surgeries, Laboratory and Radiological Investigations and other activities of RIMS, Ranchi. Central Medical Record Department has introduced the “One Patient, One Record, and One Number”.

2. Major functions of CMRD & TC

 

(a) Services:
  • To keep all Indoor/Outdoor/MLC Patients Clinical written record in its chronological order in safe & secure custody.
  • To engage in correction of the case sheets for Birth / Death certificate on regular basis.
  • To issue Patient’s Record to Hon’ble Court for documentary evidence purposes.
  • To issue records to: Patient, Police, Public, Govt. Institution,
  • To issue records to researchers for evidence based medical research and development, patient drug trial purposes, various periodical publications.
  • To keep and execute the case sheet of admitted patients under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna
  • To prepare annual hospital performance report: statistics of patients.
  • To prepare report on birth and death data for sending to the DC office, Ranchi on quarterly basis.
  • To deal in receipt and dispose the Insurance claim forms/Medico-legal cases.
  • To prepare medically certified deaths by age and sex according to national list (table-9) on yearly basis.
Conduction of Trainings/Courses
Trainings:
  • Involved in ICD10/11 training for Interns and Senior Residents on a regular basis.
  • Medical Record Documentation in-service training to nursing staff.
  • In-service training course: Medical Record Technician (MRT) since 2021 under Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.

3.Faculties of the Training Centre:

The faculties of the training centre are professionals in their respective fields and are selected by the competent authorities. Practical training is imparted by officers deputed in the medical record department with vast experience.
